Inspiration and character design

For inspiration on these dimwhitted aliens I looked to the television show "3rd Rock From the sun". About a group of aliens who come to earth disguised as humans, learning everything for the first time and often getting themselves into bizzare situations. Throughout the 6 series, they refair to themselves in their alien form as purple tubes. This gave me an idea for character design of my aliens.





i also feel these aliens are a little fallic, not unlike the H.R. Giger's creations for the film "Alien" who, like much of his art, has lots of subtle uses of male and female genetalia in the designs.
